Rediscovering Your Motivation

“So often, we envision beautiful, grand ideas and begin to work on them, but  unfortunately, we don’t finish. Could it be that we were unrealistic? No. Goals are attainable. We must stay motivated like we were in the beginning to complete the assignment” (In Her Own Ink: Strategies for Creating from Author to Author, Ashley Smith)

This book elaborates on different ways to stay motivated and disciplined. Here, we’ll discuss three approaches to keeping your flame lit in order to continue producing content energetically.

  • Know Your Reasons
  • Visualize Your Success
  • Meditate on Your Inspiration

Know Your Reasons

Whenever I start a book project I identify my reasons for publishing. - Why am I tackling this dream? Why do I deserve to publish? Accepting your publishing goals as a part of your purpose will stir your emotions and reinforce laser focus to stay on task. Let your reasons for publishing motivate you to finish drafting your book.

Visualize Your Success

Some of us create vision boards which define our dreams, reiterate the possibilities for success and envision it for ourselves. These vision boards direct our focus on the target to uphold diligence and share testimonies for positive outcomes. Nowadays, people create action boards which is the roadmap to defining the necessary steps and deadlines to get positive results.

Meditate on Your Inspiration

There’s a trigger for rekindling our flames. However, we must define that thing which can bring our energy and determination to the forefront. This looks different for everybody but it can focus on engaging nature, listening or creating music, and whatever stirs your passion.

Personally, I watch two specific performances to build my esteem and focus. I watch the same performances prior to beginning my writing session. It’s a part of my writing ritual. While watching the artists perform I focus on their stage presence, confidence and the audience’s responses. This gets me fired up to envision myself delivering on my own expertise with amazing results and receiving positive feedback from my readers.

Conclusion

Rediscovering our motivation to produce content requires intention. There are many methods to rekindle our flames. However, we discussed three approaches: 1) know your reasons for publishing, 2) visualize your success, and 3) meditate on your inspiration.
