Don’t Let Perfectionism Rob You Blind

Are you a perfectionist? - A little bit. I’ve been there. Can’t pass go to collect? Can’t see the end of the tunnel? Stuck. Stuck on a blank page?

I understand. I couldn’t get those creative ideas out of my head either. Sometimes, it’s gets so bad I can't get pass the first paragraph. Can you imagine?

My greatest struggle is the first paragraph. The first few lines aren't enticing. They can't hook a reader, and aren't appealing enough. Can you relate? How can we overcome perfectionism?

Making Power Moves: Strategies to Overcome

I discovered methods to redirect myself and hit the bullseye, every time. Nowadays, I overcome setbacks such as this by practicing power moves such as changing my approach.

Opposed to aiming to write an awesome chapter, my goal is to write something, anything. The objective is to make progress, not a masterpiece on the first attempt. I’ve developed a strategy. I change my mindset. Developing content to edit is the ideal outcome. Accordingly, I expect to write terribly.

Still, whenever I’m stuck in one area I move to another. Tackling my book project is like working on a puzzle. Taking on different areas to get over the hump. When stuck or spending too much time on one page, I move to a seemingly “easier” section to create. Sometimes, I take a break to refresh my eyes and focus.

Powerful Solutions: Working With a Book Coach

However, you don’t have to dread being stuck in the ditches alone. As your book coach, I’ll guide you through the program. Helping you keep your head not only above water but in control of the process.

I’ll share more of my proven-strategies and systems to get positive results. Act as your sounding board for constructive feedback to continue your journey on the right path.

Conclusion

Don’t kill your book because of perfectionism. Aim to produce content to edit, and not a masterpiece, yet. Redirect your attention onto different areas of your narrative to get unstuck. Take a break, reset and strive to make progress, not excellence in the first round.

Keep Your Eye on the Prize

You’ve started writing your book and the motivation drops as well as your progress. How do you stir your passion? How can you rekindle your flame? I do this repeatedly, prior to diving into the mental work of my book development...

Getting Started: Organizing Your Thoughts

Before I dive into my book project I commit to a few initial steps. They establish the foundation. I carry out these practices to ensure focus and motivation. While there are several approaches to book writing, I’ll bring our attention to getting organized. Setting the Foundation      First, create book objectives. This is the purpose of the book. Also, your promises to the reader. As the author, what book goals do you have? Why are you writing the book? How will you empower your reader?        Answering these questions will help you determine the makeup of your book design. Generally, two to five objectives are ideal. The entire book is committed to solidifying your promises to the reader. Your Motivation for Publishing      Second, create three to seven reasons you deserve to publish.
