Your Weapon for Building the Confidence to Publish

"Yes, being an author has its challenges, but the greatest obstacle is yourself..." I wrote this on Facebook. This roadblock; lack of confidence is widespread and a real dream-killer.

Stuck

Before I published my first book, I was stuck but comfortable. Staying in one spot I told myself I had a story to share and will be an author; one day, some day. This idea repeatedly popped into my mind. I had the audacity to share my dream with others. Likewise, they agreed with me that I had a good story to tell. Nobody held me accountable and asked me when I would publish my book. I lacked the confidence to take a step.

I never planned on doing anything about it. I was just sitting there. Waiting. Waiting for what? That someday. It wasn't until I met a self-published author who was willing to get me unstuck and out of my shell that I finally did something and made a move. Still, stuck I couldn't envision my name on the cover of a book. Frankly, I wasn't ready. Then God put me in the hands of FAVOR.

Moving Forward

My conversation with Favor on following her lead was my light, shot, and opportunity to get out there and create a plan for my mission. Even though I couldn't see through the fog of my hesitations, anxiety and confusion, I followed her lead to develop my book.

Taking that step and trusting an expert to hold my hand through the process gave me hope and motivation. It was only then I discovered I could get up out of my seat and move forward towards my goals. Now I have help. Now I have direction. Now I have the proper lens to making my dreams become reality.

After talking to Favor, I decided I'm no longer going to sit back and wait and continue fantasizing. She became my key to the publishing world. I was walking through that door and taking my new position, author. Ashley, mother, blogger AND author.

Self-Publishing

Finally, I must say, you're different. You're bold, have a clear vision and are willing to move forward. You're doing your homework and your rich ideas to write the book have taken root and become ingrained in your soul and spirit. Are you in that phase? Do you have the laser focus to move forward? Are you ready? Allow an expert to hold your hand through the self-publishing process.

Therefore, I'm not going to be like everybody else and let you off the hook of striving for your goals. My question for you: when will you publish your book? You have a sense of direction, maybe even the blueprint already. Accept your position. Take your seat at the authors' table. 2025 is your year to thrive. Press forward to take control. I'm your green light. The expert in your corner. The silent weapon nobody sees that you're about to use to take over. Go to my website, In Her Own Ink, and book a writing session today. Keep Your Eye on the Prize

You’ve started writing your book and the motivation drops as well as your progress. How do you stir your passion? How can you rekindle your flame? When I hit a roadblock, I’ll do one of these three activities or all of them.  Reflect on my reasons. Revert to my writing ritual. Review the list of questions my reader may have. Proven-Strategies for Creating      In the beginning stages, I’ll jot down my reasons for publishing. Five or more reasons I deserve to publish. I keep this note in the miscellaneous section of my binder. I discussed these tasks in my book, In Her Own Ink: Strategies for Creating from Author to Author.      The writing ritual is where motivation meets discipline. What motivates you into action? Which song, quote, or image gets you moving? Generally, I watch a couple of performances on YouTube that spikes my professional keenness, and produces passion. I do this repeatedly, prior to diving into the mental work of my book development...

Getting Started: Organizing Your Thoughts

Before I dive into my book project I commit to a few initial steps. They establish the foundation. I carry out these practices to ensure focus and motivation. While there are several approaches to book writing, I’ll bring our attention to getting organized. Setting the Foundation      First, create book objectives. This is the purpose of the book. Also, your promises to the reader. As the author, what book goals do you have? Why are you writing the book? How will you empower your reader?        Answering these questions will help you determine the makeup of your book design. Generally, two to five objectives are ideal. The entire book is committed to solidifying your promises to the reader. Your Motivation for Publishing      Second, create three to seven reasons you deserve to publish. This list can be used as a tool to rekindle your passion. When you hit writer’s block, refer back to your list of reasons. Reflecting on them will help y...
