My Book Coach Experience
My book coach was a drill sergeant. If I didn't do my homework and come prepared to the sessions we didn't work on my book. Initially, I was intimidated by my project. Yes, I had a story and knew it forward and backward but expressing it to the world in print was scary to me.
I couldn't envision being at the finish line. My fears overwhelmed me. I couldn't see myself publishing. Therefore, I borrowed her vision to move forward. Her coaching was the perfect foundation for me because it showed me how to take control of my story.
My coach reinforced the importance of staying organized, recording notes and goals, and staying the course. Once I got into the rhythm of developing my book and following her direction, she allowed me to take flight and spread my wings to fly higher.
She provided the book template, and I added graphics. I had fun with it. Also, I found a way to keep readers engaged. My book was unique because it was a blog book, a new concept back then. I wrapped my articles into a gift for my followers enclosed with a journal. Providing self-reflection questions which strengthens our connection. At the end of the chapters, I offered a section for readers to meditate on by asking questions and giving them space to respond.
We worked diligently and got positive results. My book coach walked me through the steps of putting the book online. We tackled the book for less than five months and then I published What's On My Mind? Volume I, A Collection of Blog Entries from Overcoming Schizophrenia (2014) on CreateSpace that later became Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing.
Building Your Writing Journey
Unlike my coach, I'm not a drill sergeant. Like you I wanted to share my story. Like you I had some hesitation. I understand the fears, self-doubt and lack of confidence. Allow me to help you overcome these challenges.
Still, I will hold you accountable. We might have to revisit a previous step in order to understand how to proceed and that's okay. As your book coach I want you to build your writing journey on solid ground. I want to help you see through the fog and tap into acting on your dreams. Executing small steps forward.
If you're intimidated, stuck and scared to walk alone because you don't trust yourself, borrow my vision of you achieving your goals. I see you working hard toward your godly-given purpose as an author. I see you flourishing in her creativity and finishing your book. I see you accomplishing your dreams. Let's work together and get started today.
